About Whitburn Studio

Whitburn Studio is James Bailey's workshop for custom surfboards, surfboard and composite repairs, shaping experiences, Hold fins, furniture and material-led workshop pieces. You can contact the studio at hello@whitburnstudio.com.

Website information

The website is provided for information, enquiries and shop checkout. Whitburn Studio aims to keep product, service, availability and pricing information accurate, but details may change. Images are representative unless a specific one-off item is clearly identified.

Enquiries, custom work and experiences

• A website enquiry, repair estimate or custom board brief is not an order confirmation unless Whitburn Studio confirms it separately.
• Indicative repair ranges are not final quotes. James confirms the proper price after reviewing the board, construction, finish and photographs.
• Custom surfboard specifications, timings and prices are agreed directly before work starts.
• Experience dates and workshop availability are confirmed directly with James.

Repairs

• Boards should arrive fully dewaxed unless agreed otherwise. Wax can contaminate workshop stands and boards in production.
• Repair prices may change if hidden damage, water ingress, construction issues or finish requirements become clear after inspection.
• Whitburn Studio may decline repair work if the item cannot sensibly or safely be repaired.

Shop orders and Square checkout

• Square handles online checkout, payment processing and order records for shop products.
• Product availability, options and prices may change before checkout is completed.
• An order is accepted when payment is completed and the order is confirmed through Square or Whitburn Studio.
• Whitburn Studio may cancel and refund an order if a product is unavailable, incorrectly listed or cannot reasonably be fulfilled.

Delivery and returns

Delivery and returns rules vary depending on whether the item is a custom surfboard, a larger board, a fin, a table or another stock product. The full policy is available on the Delivery & Returns page.

Custom surfboards and other bespoke or personalised items are made to specification and may be exempt from the standard distance-selling cancellation period once production has started. This does not affect statutory rights where goods are faulty, not as described or otherwise do not meet the standards required by law.

Consumer rights

Nothing in these terms limits statutory rights under UK consumer law. If a product is faulty, not as described or not of satisfactory quality, contact Whitburn Studio so the issue can be reviewed and resolved.

Website content and intellectual property

The website design, text, photography, product names, surfboard shape information, graphics and other content are owned by Whitburn Studio or used with permission. They must not be copied, republished or used commercially without permission.

Acceptable use

Do not misuse the website, interfere with its operation, submit false information, attempt unauthorised access, upload unlawful or harmful material, or use forms for spam or automated solicitation.

Liability

Whitburn Studio is not responsible for losses caused by events outside its reasonable control. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or breach of statutory consumer rights.

Privacy

Personal information submitted through the website is handled in line with the Privacy Policy.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If a dispute cannot be resolved directly, it will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer rights that apply.
