Whitburn Studio is where James shapes custom surfboards, repairs surfboards and composite equipment, makes Hold fins and turns usable offcuts into furniture and homeware.
The workshop is just north of Winchester. It is where custom surfboards are shaped, damaged boards and composite equipment are repaired, Hold fins are made, and usable board-building offcuts are turned into furniture and homeware.
James started Whitburn Studio to make useful things by hand. Surfboards are shaped to order, damaged surfboards, SUPs, kayaks and composite equipment are repaired, and suitable workshop material is reused in fins, furniture and homeware.

Whitburn Studio is built around practical, useful work: boards that feel right under the surfer, repairs that get equipment back in the water, and leftover workshop material kept in use wherever it can become something good.
James handles the important details himself. He reads each brief, asks the questions that matter, shapes custom boards in the workshop and works through the finish, repair route or material choice with the person it is being made for.
The same thinking runs through shaping days, Hold fins, recycled pieces and commercial projects: understand the job, respect the material, make it well, and avoid hiding the hand work that gives the object its character.
